When I was a kid, one of my almost one-hundred car books Mercedes-Benz with some beautiful sketches by Paul Braq. It was my first introduction into the beautiful style of “futuristic paintings” of the era, a Syd Mead style of sketch before I even knew who he was. A recent search on Paul Braq brought me to a site called BMWism.com. In one single bnnlogpost, they have a timeline of BMW Design from the beginning of the company all the way to present day. Braq, Wilhelm Hofmeister ( inventer of the “kink” ), Pietro Futra, are all listed among others I never knew did any BMW work, along with contemporaries like Chris Bangle, Adrian van Hooydonk, and the recently departed-for-Hyundai Chris Chapman.
This is certainly a worthwhile read and there are some great sketches and schematics. Click here.
